This painting features baseball #1 prospect, Matt Wieters.
In Photo 1, you see the painting in it's very beginning stages -- what I call, pre-paint drawing. As it progresses to Photo 2, you you see more and more of the elements of the painting starting to take shape.
Then, as you can see in Photo 3, I've actually started to apply the paint to the background. I've chosen to use a palette knife for the background, as it gives it a sort of "rough" look to it. All of the background elements will be completed in acyrlic paint, while the images of Wieters will be done in oils.
In Photos 5-7, you can see I've started to add some detail to his chest protector, glove, helmet, face, and arms. In Photo 5, I've put some initial color down, and then as it progresses to Photo 7, you'll see I've added a great deal more detail to those areas.
In Photos 9 & 10, show the painting after Matt Wieters autographed in silver Sharpie. It's hard to see in the first photo, but in Photo 10, I've added a closer shot of the signature. Thanks to Heather and the Tides for all their help!!
