Artist's Notes
This painting features the 2009 MLB Draft #1 Overall Pick of the Washington Nationals, Stephen Strasburg.
As you can see in Photo 1, this painting is still in the early stages. Originally, I began the painting with the possibility of Mr. Strasburg not signing with the Nationals -- which would have meant, Strasburg would have returned to the "draft pool" for the 2010 MLB Draft. So, with that in mind, I only wanted to paint his face, hands, and glove, and wanted to reserve the remainder of his uniform, hat, etc., for when I knew for certain what team he would be playing for.
However, Strasburg signed with the Nationals, so, I will be moving forward with finishing the painting as originally designed. I am planning on leaving the background completely white, but may change my mind at some point, as his uniform will be white as well.
