This
is a watercolor painting of Colorado Rockies top prospect, and Baseball
America #4 overall prospect, Ian Stewart. Ian's currently playing
with the Modesto Nuts of the California League (High A), and is batting
.274, with 17 home runs, and 86 RBI's. I'm
using a great picture from sports photographer, Bill Nichols, so, thanks
to Bill for the great shot of Ian!
At this point, I've finished most of
the preliminary drawing, so I've started adding the background
elements. For example, the wall in the top right-hand corner, and
the advertising on the outfield wall. I've also started to add the
trees behind the outfield wall. |

This is just a closer
look, at left, of the details I've added so far. The photo, at
right, shows a bit more progress. I've added the initial shading
and coloring to the outfield grass, and infield dirt. I've also
almost completed his hat -- the Modesto Nuts.

Here, you can see
I've started to add a lot more shading to his uniform, but have a long
way to go. The photo, at right, is merely a closer look at the
photo on the left.
As always, if you

At left, you'll see
the painting nearing completion. I've completed some initial
shading on his uniform, and have started adding some base colors on his
face, the infield dirt, his glove, and the outfield grass.
On the right, you
can see the "finished" product as it currently
remains. |

These are essentially
the same photos from above, just a bit closer. As you can see,
I've added more of the details to the outfield wall, and have started to
lay some more "groundwork" for further coloring and
shading. These photos are displaying the "finished
product". |
