"Not-So-Shortstop" / 12" x 16" / Oil Painting

This is a painting of Tampa Bay Devil Rays prospect, Joel Guzman (pronounced "Jo-el").  Formerly with the Dodgers organization, Guzman was traded during the 2006 season.  Standing at a whopping 6'6", he has grown out of his SS position, and projects more as a corner OF or 1B in the coming seasons for the D-Rays.

This is an oil painting based off of a great cover shot from Baseball America, taken by amazing sports photographer, David Stoner.  I only hope this painting does his photograph "justice".

I spend a lot of time on this painting -- mainly because it was such a great photo and there were so many details evident in the photograph.  Like Guzman's sunglasses and the reflection on them.
The two photos at left feature "the finished product".  The photo on the right has better color, but both should give you some idea of the amount of detail contained in my paintings that I do.

Thanks for checking out this painting!
