"The Phenom" - Oil on Canvas / 16x20 / 2004

This is my second Zack Greinke painting.  The first painting stays with me in my private collection, while this painting will be the property of Zack and the Greinke family.  I decided to paint this one with oils, rather than acrylics, just because they're so much easier to blend and work with.  And, after just about a half a day working on it, you can see I've got a decent start to it.  I've got all the basic paint down on the glove, his left arm, all his uniform, his hat, and some tone on his face.  I'm very please with how much I've accomplished already.  I'm using pale drying oil to try and speed up the drying process, so hopefully that works.  Anyways, I'll keep everyone updated with new pictures as soon as I get more done on the painting.  Thanks for checking out the site, and come back often!

As, I'm sure you can probably tell, I've been doing some more painting.  I'm very excited with how well this painting is progress already.  I feel like I'm really starting to excel with use of oil paints.  These 2 pictures display how I've started to add shading to his uniform and his face.  I've also added the black "edges" to "Royals" and "23".  I'm hoping to finish all the preliminary painting in the next day or two, and if all goes well, I may actually be finished with the painting by late next week.  That all depends on how much time I'm going to have to devote to painting in the upcoming weeks.

Here, you can see I've finished most of the shading to Zack's uniform and his face.  I've also started adding the background to this side of the painting -- since I'm left-handed, I have to work right-to-left -- and especially with oil paints.  I'm definitely quite happy with how the painting has progress thus far.  At the rate it's going right now, it's quite possible this painting will be finished within the next 4-5 days.  From here, I will finish the background on the right side, finish the shading to his uniform, paint his pitching arm, and finish the painting off by adding the background to the left portion of the painting.  If you're checking this painting out, let me know what you think of it -- I love getting critiques from friends and fans of my work.
Well, here's another painting you can "chalk up" for me.  I just need to add some final shading to his pitching arm, and do some touching up, and this painting will be finished.  I worked on it almost all day today, and even started a new painting - a Delmon Young painting .  Overall, I'm definitely happy with this painting.  I do wish the background had come out a little bit better, but it's technically my first background with oil paints -- so it's a learn as you go type thing for me.  Hopefully the Grienke family is pleased with the work.  Thanks for checking out my painting everyone!
