"Zack Greinke" - Acrylic Paint / 12x16 / 2004 |
|
This painting is based on a card that replicates the 1955 Topps issue of baseball cards. I've already finished most of the preliminary drawing -- minus the drawing I need to do to add the Kansas City Royals logo in the top right-hand corner of the picture. Thus far, it's been going very smoothly, and I hope it continues to do so. This is my first painting, since completing my LeBron James work, with oil paints, so it's fun to get back to using acrylics again. There's a bit of a glare on his face, but that's because the paint is still pretty fresh while taking the picture with the camera. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress -- much like my LeBron painting -- with tons of picture updates. Enjoy! |

Well, I finally got some new pictures posted. I've actually been working on this quite a bit more recently, and put in most of the current work tonight (just before posting this). I'm very happy so far with how the shading and everything is blending with Zack's facial features. Basically, all that's left with this portion of the painting, is adding a few lighter skin tones, finishing around his teeth and mouth, and then putting the finishing touches on his Royals hat. Then, onto his pitching motion to finish that. I've got all the basic shading and color for that part, so it should go pretty quickly, considering I won't have to put nearly as much detail as I have the profile part of the painting. Then, once I'm done with this painting, it'll be onto Zack painting #2. Anyways, I should hopefully be adding the final few pictures and the finished product soon! Be sure to check back to see how it turns out! |

I've made a bit more progress with this painting, and am definitely nearing completion. I've added the Royals logo to the top right of the painting, and finished the "name" portion of the painting at the bottom. Also, I've finished the borders along the outside. To replicate a baseball card look, I painted the borders white. I apologize for the coloring of the scans, they seem to be a bit off with the whites. But, hopefully you get the idea of how the finished product will likely look. Enjoy the pictures, as I'll be sure to add more soon! |

For all intensive purposes, this is the finished product. Minus a few very small details to add, I'm done here. I'm going to lighten his hair a bit more and add some more detail to his "action" part of the painting -- but not much. Overall, I'm happy with how the painting looks, and can't wait to start the next painting. If you want to see an enlarged picture, all you have to do is click on any of the pictures at left. I've got some exciting plans for this painting that I will talk more about, once all the details have been ironed out. I'll more than likely have some pictures to add at some point, but we'll just "wait and see". |

Well, as you can see, my painting is now signed and ready to be framed. It turned out great, and I couldn't be happier with it. The picture on the left is the signed and finished painting -- unframed; while the picture on the right is a nice close-up of Zack's signature on my painting. I can't wait to pick out a frame so I can hang it up here in my studio with my private collection. If anyone is interested, in conjunction with Zack and his representatives, we will be selling prints of one of my Zack Greinke paintings in the coming months. The pictures are on the front page of my website, click here. |

The final picture of this page, is the "final product" -- signed, framed, and the whole shabang. It would look a lot better on a wall that isn't white/off-white, as the frame is white. It makes for a great contrast, but for now, it looks great in my private collection. Thanks a ton to Zack and his father for all their help!! I hope everyone who visits this page buys one of the limited edition prints of Zack! |
