"Footsteps" - Oil Paint on Canvas / 12 x 16 / 2005
This is a painting of New York Giants quarterback, Eli Manning -- younger brother of Peyton, and son of Archie.  Hence, the title, "Footsteps"...as in trying to follow in the big footsteps left by his brother and father before him.

The two pictures, at left, are the first taken thus far, but I hope to add more soon, once I do some more painting.  So, stay tuned!  Thanks for checking it out!

As promised, here at the two newest photos I've taken of this painting.  I've started adding the background on the right side, put the initial shading on his left arm, added the initial shading to his helmet, and have started to add some shading to his face and facemask.  I'm hoping to add some more pictures later today as I plan on painting a bit more today.  So, check back soon, and you'll maybe get another update!
As you might imagine, I've been quite busy today, working on this painting.  I was hoping to be able to finish it tonight, but it looks like it's going to have to wait a few days.  I still need to go back and add some highlights and shading to his helmet, face mask, and face.  Other than that, all that is left -- is to finish shading his throwing arm and hand, finish the football, and then finish the background.  Then off to join my Private Collection!
I've finally added most of the final shading and detail to Eli's face.  I'm going to make a few minor adjustments and add a few highlights to his face -- but, for the most part, that portion of the painting is complete.  All that remains, as you can see, is to add the remainder of the shading to the football, and both of his hands...and then just add the finishing touches to the background.  The picture at right is a bit more of a close-up, but for some reason the picture turned out really dark on that one, so sorry about that.  The other two turned out pretty good though.
The picture, at left, is almost identical to the picture just to the north of it (above)...just a bit more of a close-up, and less zoomed in than the picture to the above-right.  I hope you can see all the detail and work that goes into adding the shading to a person's face.  Honestly, if there's something that I struggle with everytime I do a portrait, painting, or drawing -- it's the shading and detail involved in a person's face.  However, I learn something each and every time I paint and draw, so hopefully I'll get better every time!
