"Chapel at Dusk" - Acrylic Paint / 12x16 / 2004 |
|
This is another painting I did as a gift -- a wedding present for Jay and Melissa, two good friends from college. The subject you ask? This is the University of Dayton's Chapel, well, at dusk. Better known just as the UD Chapel to us Alums. I recently purchased a tablet of 12x16's sheets of canvas, so, this painting was my first with the new format. I'm happy with the results, and look forward to many more paintings in the future at this size. At left, you can see I painted it using my drawing board. I like to paint in a comfortable position, so it works better this way. And, at right, well, that's just a close-up of the painting still taped to the board. |

These two pictures are the finished and final product - framed and matted and all. The picture at left is a close-up and cropped picture of the painting and the matte. At right, you can see the end result in it's many splendors. Overall, I was very happy with how it turned out, and I hope it captured the beauty of the UD Chapel. |
