"LA Or Bust" - Watercolors / 18x24 / 2006 |

This is a painting of Chad Billingsley, Defiance, Ohio native, and Los Angeles Dodgers #1 prospect. The photos at left show the progress thus far, as I've progressed from the pre-paint drawing, to adding most of the background elements and detail. | ||

On the far left, you can see both the photo and the painting together. At this point, the background has all of it's basic detail, and I will go back and add more depth and color to finish the background, as I move forward. In the photo on the far right, I've added more detail to the background, and have added some color and shading to his hat and his glove -- as well as a few small parts of his jersey. From here, I will probably add the initial color and shading to the "Dodgers" part of his uniform, before going back and adding some more color and shading to his left arm, glove, and jersey. |

The photos on the far left, and the middle, show my latest and modest progress made on the painting. I've added a great deal of shading and color to his left arm, and am nearly finished with that portion. I've also started to add some initial color and shading to his face, as I prepare to begin working on this area. And, at right, you can see I've started to add some of the shadowed area to his jersey. Once the initial shaping and coloring is finished in that part, I will go back and add the "highlights" and "shadows" to finish it off. I hope to finish this portion sometime very soon! |

As I'm sure you can see, I've started to add more color, shading and detail to Chad's face -- as well as his jersey. There's still a lot of detail to add to both his face and jersey, before moving onto his throwing arm/hand. However, those are the main elements remaining, prior to finishing this project. At right, is the "updated" photo. I've added some more color and shading to his face, and have almost finished his throwing arm/hand. I'm going to add a bit more detail and shading to his face, and then move onto his jersey -- the final portion to finish in the painting. |

At left, for your
viewing pleasure, is the "finished product", in all it's
splendor. And, done, just in time, to have it scanned prior to
Billingsley's signing.
If you're interested, I will likely be producing a very limited edition print run of this painting -- featuring approximately 50 signed and numbered prints. It's possible 10 or more of these prints will be autographed by Chad, as well as signed and numbered by me -- so if you're interested, send me an e-mail, and reserve your print today! I haven't set a definite price, and will depend on the final cost involved to have the prints produced. I would expect the prints to be priced between $40-100, but that may change. Sorry for the wide range there, but this will be my first experience with the new printers, so it's a "wait and see" kind of thing. Thanks for checking out this painting and my website! |
